About UsCatherine Aguilera, Proprietor/Esthetician/Reiki master
During one of my summer teaching breaks, I picked up the well publicized novel
written by Anita Diamant, The Red Tent. Set in Old Testament biblical times, the
Red Tent refers to a gathering place for women during their 'moon cycle'. It provided
a place for women to tend to each other, exchange stories and offer mutual support
and encouragement, this concept became my inspiration for Mariposa Day Spa,
a sanctuary for self-renewal.For over 25 years the performing arts in dance, drama and directing took center stage in my life. While these venues still tug at me, the quiet one on one connection that occurs 'backstage' during a spa treatment, holds a primary place in my heart. The beautiful exchange of 'story', hearing about your dreams, desires and magic wand ideas, ultimately has spurred me on to facilitate Self Renewal Workshops. The truth about me: I am an alpha dog, I like to dig in the dirt, I make dreadful pie crust so I stopped trying, I collect peoples 'real life' stories and vintage clothing, my shoes tell the story of my life, I've decided not to get braces and laugh anyway, I like the smell of oil pastels and aspire to write and publish a childrens story. I encourage others to reach for the stars! Rita Bazley, Licensed Massage Therapist
When I first discovered massage therapy, it was like a light coming on for me, a
personal way in which I might be able to transform lives and give to others. I have
found massage therapy to be a way to facilitate a combination of physical, mental,
and spiritual healing.Being a massage therapist has been a path of growth for me over the last 20 years. I have found that, as I give a massage, I find an inner peace that I hope is passed on to my clients in a healing manner. Massage is more than an occupation for me....It is a way of caring and giving. AnnaAnna lives each day with the velocity of a spring morning. She is inspired by the homespun qualities of life; custards made from scratch, Sunday drives, colorful gardens, sudden dances in alleyways and boots made in Italy. Like a true Renaissance woman, Anna dons many hats; she has worked alongside farmers, florists, bakers, poets, chefs, musicians and educators. As we head into autumn, Miss Wolcott can be seen in the garden putting things to rest. She has been busy picking plums, figs, and basil to make into delightful treats for friends & family. She has recently began voice lessons with Pradah Devi, an East Indian music teacher. Devi will be teaching Anna traditional Sanskrit devotional songs as well as the ancient history of Indian music. More and more, Anna finds herself drawn to Holistic healing; she feels there are wonderful benefits that come from practicing personal wellness in our lives.“I find great pleasure in nourishing the Soul; I believe there is an endless resource of Joy nestled in each of our Spirits.” She would like to remind us that it is our birth right to discover this Joy.
